representative projects that demonstrate the breadth of our experience.
Voluntary Cleanup Program Mine Tailing Clean-up,
Confidential Client, Park City, UT
This former mining site contained soils and streambed materials that were impacted with lead, arsenic, and associated heavy metals from historic silver mining. DK Environmental successfully negotiated investigation and mitigation work plans with the Utah DEQ under the Voluntary Clean-up Program. Obtained stream alteration permit, SWPPP, fugitive dust permit, and city permits to complete mitigation of the soil and stream. Public meetings were held to resolve traffic, safety, transportation concerns and present future development plans. Site soil and surface water clean-up has been completed including mitigation of a mine shaft and adit.
TCE Investigation and Clean-up, Farmers Grain Cooperative, Inc., Ogden, UT This project involves the investigation, design, and remediation of two chlorinated hydrocarbon groundwater plumes. Work at the site has included investigations, chemical injection pilot studies, fate and transport modelling, and UPDES permitting. A Human Health Risk Assessment and Site Management Plan were prepared and approved by Utah DSHW. By utilizing appropriate environmental Utah environmental regulations, the Client was saved approximately $500,000. Currently, the project is in a monitoring phase with expected closure in 2017.
Barite Mine Pit Study, Confidential Client, Elko, NV
DK Environmental led a diverse project team of geochemists and hydrogeologists to complete a pit lake study and present the report to NDEP and BLM. DK quickly came up to speed and assembled seven years of investigative data to meet an expedited schedule for NDEP and BLM regulatory permit compliance. DK prepared and participated in BLM and NDEP meetings to prepare work plan tasks to meet additional regulatory requirements.
Tg Soda Ash Disposal Pond Expansion Pump Tests, WY
Conducted three short-term, two 24-hour, and one seven-day pumping tests for dewatering an existing disposal pond that was located in a remote area of Wyoming. The pond expansion required dewatering of both the existing berm and the area outside the berm for heavy equipment traffic. Prepared data analysis and report for the Client.
New Canyon Meadows Water Supply Wells, Provo Canyon, UT
Managed the well placement investigation and drilling of three drinking water supply wells for a subdivision. Conducted two step-drawdown and a long-term aquifer tests and aquifer test analysis for the delineation of wellhead protection zones.
Thiokol Stormwater Management Plan, Corrine, UT
Managed and conducted a stormwater management plan of the Thiokol Strategic and Space Operations facilities. The project involved visiting each of the more than 200 buildings at the facility and identifying operations and practices that could be detrimental to stormwater run-off from the facility. Prepared the comprehensive report for the Client.
Environmental Due Diligence Studies, Multiple Locations, USA
DK Environmental has performed hundreds of Phase I and Phase II investigations on commercial and industrial sites, for single property transactions and multi-property real estate portfolios.
